Edivaldo Ernesto, Milan Herich, Peter Jasko and Horacio Macuacua are 4 dance artists who have worked with David Zambrano over the last 15 /20 years. As students, performers, assistants, collaborators, they have gone a long way together. In the meantime they have been developing their own interests and personal styles in dance with their artistic and pedagogic activities. David offers them a 2 weeks period at Tictac where they will teach their own work. It will be presented in 2 weeks with 2 workshops of each 3 hours per artist. It is advised to keep the evening hours and weekends open, as performances and other events might happen as well during that period.

Important: these workshops are higly physical!

DEPTH MOVEMENT
by Edivaldo Ernesto

DEPTH MOVEMENT
Depth Movement is an intense and dense group dynamic class. It is about energy, about constantly challenging your limits. Understanding what defines you as a dancer and pushing those boundaries over and over again. Allowing the environment to influence your dancing skills, refining tools to create new movement qualities and new rhythms. Digging deeper inside the range of your own personal dance vocabulary, becoming anyone or anything. Working with partnering, multi- directional micro- narrative movement to transforming as a whole group. Learning how to effectively be unpredictable, how to recycle energy, how to use the body as your primary tool. I guarantee a new process of study in which I go as a teacher and guidance parallel to your learning process and makes you do the step of digesting the work to get a completely new level. .”

DOWN BY SPIRAL
by Milan Herich

DOWN BY SPIRAL
During this workshop, I would like to share my daily research inspired by different approaches of physicality. I like the idea of a full body warm-up while dancing, through repetition of different sequences that range from simple to more complex. In this class we will walk, run, spin, slide, jump and roll through the entire space, building the skills and knowledge to play with our whole body, challenging our self by finding individual solutions through doing. Improvisation and open dancing will be used as a tool during the class, moving in a playful environment, developing physical perception and alertness among the group. The material used during this class, it is a combination of different techniques from my own practice fueled by a variety of dance forms.

DEEP MOVEMENT CONSCIOUSNESS
by Peter Jasko

DEEP MOVEMENT CONSCIOUSNESS
The workshop is more of a creativity class than a dance class. Because of its nature, it is an open level class for professional dancers and movers alike. Rather than teaching form, the class focuses on expanding one’s artistic self-awareness. The class begins with exploring qualities such as rebound, flow, fractions, and shaking to reach a state beyond self-judgment and self-limitations. Here we will work within the gap between power and fragility. After waking up the body and mind, we will focus on isolations and polyrhythmic exercises to root back our focus. We move with the intention of never going back, developing one’s fearlessness and ability to trust each instant’s potential to lead somewhere. We give ourselves the necessary time to tune into our body’s intuitive intelligence to solve movement paradoxes that emerge during the research process. We will facilitate each other’s exploration by working in pairs and in groups, as well as individually.
These simple open structures are simultaneously technical tools and tools for composition. We encourage the dancer to playfully explore their inner workings and personal language that result both from everyday lived experience and learned movement patterns. By opening up creative curiosity, we enhance our movement fluency. In turn, we will develop strategies to explore the space between continuity and disruption of movement ideas by naming patterns for those interested in building choreography.

IMPROVISATION WORKSHOP
by Horacio Macuacua

IMPROVISATION WORKSHOP
“The inflexibility of the established paralyses the movement, dims the ingenuity, casts a shadow over surprise. But life force makes us adaptable, it gives us the opportunity to transform space and to translate energy into matter, matter into its own evolution. The outline of the spontaneous is blurred to disappear, the margins of the predictable are softened and we know the interrogation point that questions the automatic response. The body allows us to transcend.”
The structure and the goal of the workshop are the creation and composition of movement. Horacio proposes a highly physical work that demands attention, interest and alert rather than a certain technique level. The participants learn to relate and connect themselves instantly to the environment and to develop playfulness and spontaneity in taking decisions, for immediate composition full of meaning.

His approach is based on his own intuition and varies and evolves with what the group offers. The basis of this work is the diversity of the personal movement and world of each participant, who will be working from the body and with images and emotions to discover new and surprising possibilities. The intention always lies in accessing the full expression and communication in the personal dance, not in terms of virtuosity but from the uniqueness as a being.

Everybody learns from everybody, to risk more and more and to delve deeper into the potential of their own creativity by sharing, observing, attending, seeing other bodies and appreciating what is offered. Dance happens more present, more complete, it gets deeper and richer.

Let’s dance!
