Dancing like a child in a puddle
by Paul Couchard

About the workshop:
This is a dance-theater workshop where your imagination becomes a tool to play with the body in every possible way.
Imagination is the result of millions of years of evolution. Since the cognitive revolution (70 000 years ago)*, the human being is able to imagine and create an infinity of elements. It has almost no end !!

In this workshop we employ our imagination to create material, develop it and finally create a whole story with the body, keeping high precision of movement. For example if I imagine “jumping over a rock”, I develop the natural action of jumping by adding the arms. The objective is to arrive to a dancing and organic movement where the basic action is still clearly readable. For the lesson’s structure : we will first have a little technical moment, working mainly on weight and directions/intentions, and then full improvisation !

Childhood is full of powerful images that we will use to enrich the work. Mother Nature and spirituality, especially in the times we live, are also beautiful and important sources of creation.

There is no life I know
To compare with pure imagination
Living there, you’ll be free
If you truly wish to be
