THE EMANCIPATED PERFORMER
PRACTICES OF MOVEMENT AND BIOENERGETIC
by Rakhal Herrero
About the workshop:
Is it possible to generate a predominance of experience over appearance?
Based on concepts and practices from bioenergetic and dance, I propose a training that allows us to explore our expressive resources according to the four dimensions that make up our body: the physical, the mental, the energetic, and the emotional. I believe that the conscious and creative integration of these aspects can collaborate towards a state of greater vitality, openness, and potency.
The work that I have been doing in the field of dance has been always linked to the quest for uniqueness and honesty in the expression. My interest was turning to that direction, leaving aside formal questions, to increasingly pursue each body’s power of individual freedom.
In this sense, the approach to bioenergetic as a therapeutic discipline focussed on somatic work, happened for me as an organic step, expanding the understanding of the aesthetic field to the general expressive field of the individual. At the same time, dance opens for us an essential field for creative development.
Under these lines of work, we will practice a heterogeneous improvisation system, that promotes the emancipation of each person in terms of their impulses and desires.
This workshop is open to anyone interested in exploring body and movement in their artistic and personal implications.
