PASSING THROUGH (a 1 week post-intensive gathering)
by David Zambrano

About the workshop
This workshop will be more a gathering of 5 mornings where David Zambrano will guide and dance together with participants in Passing Through sessions. ONLY participants who have done an intensive of Flying Low & Passing Through before can join this week. David Zambrano will just have finished a 5 weeks intensive in Flying Low & Passing Through, so for him it will be as a continuation, going further into the passing through research.
This week offers an opportunity for those who have done Passing Through before to rejoin with others who had a similar experience and practice within another group constellation. For each participant it can be an update, refreshment, a coming together, a further development, a (re-)learning process.

Who can register:
1. Anyone who has done a 5 week Passing Through/Flying Low intensive with David Zambrano at Tictac Art Centre.
2. Anyone who took part in a 4 week Ex-In (which happened in Germany, Spain, Greece or Italy)
3. Anyone of the 50 days FL & PT in Costa Rica (2010)
4. Anyone of the 60 days Improvisation at Tictac (2019)
5. Anyone of the performers of the creation of Twelve Flies Went Out at Noon (2005).
6. Anyone who studied in P.A.R.T.S. and had there the 4 (!!) weeks intensive of Passing Through/Flying Low.
7. Anyone who did the Flying Low & Passing Through intensive in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2016 or 2017.

If anyone has doubts if they can join, please write to and mention which intensive in Passing Through you took, directed by David Zambrano.

In the making of movement compositions, David Zambrano focuses on creating and developing the dynamics for complex systems to present leadership in the form of a group web. In science, cells do not need a protein leader to create life. Neither does the brain need one protein leader to create a thought. With this in mind, Zambrano thinks that movement needs no leader in creation.

The “passing through” takes students through various exercises to manifest that same philosophy. The group will create dynamics that will be flexible, complex, getting the group to fit tight together, yet always keeping doors open for the unexpected. The group moves constantly, transforming the environment of the dance. After taking part in the “passing through” the student will learn to instantly connect with their environment and become more spontaneous in the making of choices as an improviser, choreographer or dancing in someone else’s work.

David Zambrano has been a monumental figure in the international dance community for more than 40 years, and his passion for cultural exchange continues to influence his work. Zambrano is an ambassador and liaison across many borders, bringing together artists from all over the planet for his projects. He has taught his own approach to dance in more than 75 countries and has performed at hundreds of venues across the world. His pieces range from set choreography, structured improvisation, and pure improvisation. Born in Venezuela, Zambrano spent 15 years in New York and now lives in between Amsterdam and Brussels. In 2018 he initiated Tictac Art Centre as an artistic home base.
