Antoni Androulakis

Fluxness

This workshop weaves together the many ways I have constructed and deconstructed movement with an emphasis on both floor work and acrodance. Ranging from moments of intense physicality to the subtleties of somatic awareness, we will dive into the different sensorial layers of our dance.

Using mainly improvisation, we will explore ways to both define and redefine our relationship with gravity through concepts such as:

– Becoming aware of the many ways we can use the points of contact we create with the floor.
– Harnessing gravity as a movement generator.
– The interplay between effort and ease in order to facilitate movement while releasing unnecessary rigidity.
– Understanding our body as a holistic organism. Seeing it as a whole rather than separated, we will find ways to make our full body contributes to the movement.

Drawing from my background in acrobatics, we will approach inversions as expression of our dance dance rather than “tricks” to integrate them in one’s own language.

I do not differentiate in between the way I deal with movement and how I deal with my daily life. My teaching is therefore a synthesis of things I am actively practicing: awareness, challenge & playfulness.
