Roberto Oliván
Instinct as a Source of Movement
Through the study and practice of diverse dance techniques, Roberto Oliván became aware of their limitations as tools for artistic expression. While recognizing their importance, he observed that relying exclusively on conventional techniques can restrict freedom and creativity in movement.
This led him on a continuous search for freedom in dance, refining his technique to develop a distinctive movement language—one grounded in speed, precision, and clarity.
The aim of this workshop is to cultivate specificity in movement by generating dance material from animal instinct and individual creativity.
Participants will explore efficiency of movement and the relationship with gravity, while developing awareness of inner sensations such as breathing and the visualization of energy released through motion. This process deepens the connection between body and mind and enhances the understanding of how physical structure relates to space, to others, and to oneself.
In this context, the body becomes a tool for projecting physical and emotional flow, using mental images and structures to clarify movement and functionality.
