JSR methodologies

Functionality & Perspective in Dance (release).
2 hours (mornings)

These tech morning classes are based on more than ten years of investigation of Judith Sánchez Ruíz on the release technique. Participants will focus on the importance of being grounded, understanding the shifting of weight, clarity of movement, attention to detail, precision, and dynamics in a multidirectional approach. This practice will lead to very specific qualities of functional and organic movement while working with the imagination and improvisation within. Functionality and Perspective give the dancers many ways to understand movement’s initiation in the body, allowing them to understand the functionality from a creative approach. These sessions will encourage the body to question and practice task-oriented exercises, equations, and scores.

Your Own God, Intensive Improvisation
(3 hours, afternoon)

Your Own God’s departed from JSR’s choreographic process and experience as a performer from diverse techniques and styles throughout her long international career.

These training focus on individual wake-up innate potential from a functional point of view and artistic platform to strengthen possibilities and document basic tools. Using methodologies that allows cognitive transformative artistic experimentation when composing work. Additionally, it will trigger your un/comfortable zone and play with breaking habits. It will guide you to look for the unknown exploration of different approaches to the movement and develop movement in composition with space and in a relationship with others.
