Soul Project

To register for this workshop, participants must have done at least a 2 week long workshop with David Zambrano before (or studied intensively with David). If you have done an intensive (FL & PT or Improvisation) you are welcome to register. If you’re not sure you can register, send an email to info@tictacartcentre.com.

David Zambrano will guide the participants through a special solo journey where everyone will experience some of the principles that were used during the creation of Soul Project (premiered in 2006). Dancers will be challenged to move as hot, as spontaneous, as deep (and yet as superficial) as the soul singers in their concerts, passing from one state of mind into another in one shot.

The dance creation Soul Project premiered in 2006 with a wide cast of international dancers and toured extensively (performed more than 100 times) through different countries all across the world (ex: Belgium, Poland, Slovenia, Senegal, Costa Rica, South Korea, and the USA). The work received raving reviews in New York Times and NewYorker Magazine. Watch here the last performance of Soul Project (2016).

David Zambrano's biography

David Zambrano has been a monumental figure in the international dance community for more than 40 years, and his passion for cultural exchange continues to influence his work. Zambrano is an ambassador and liaison across many borders, bringing together artists from all over the planet for his projects. He has taught his own approach to dance in more than 75 countries and has performed at hundreds of venues across the world. His pieces range from set choreography, structured improvisation, and pure improvisation. Born in Venezuela, Zambrano spent 15 years in New York and now lives in between Amsterdam and Brussels. In 2018 he, together with his partner Mat Voorter, initiated Tictac Art Centre as an artistic home base.
