Benoît Lachambre

Body, flow, and relational architecture

Energy is the link between bodies and awareness of flow, relational moving and presence. Through the workshop Benoit Lachambre proposes multiple ways of recognizing flow and multidimensional polymorphic experiences. Mixing the senses and expending the consciousness of joy and support, we dive into energy flow in order to free each-other into full scale shinning. Body and mind extension are used as bowing methods to enjoy multiple supportive forces that surrounds and occupy us. This brings us into collective mind sets. All is done through improvisational time. while inducing specific alignment and sensorial exercises in order to sustained free flow and exponentially the emergence of phenomenological events that increase joy.

Voice, magnetism and empathetic thinking are part of the practice…

Benoît Lachambre’s biography:

Constantly developing himself in the field of dance since the 70’s, Benoît Lachambre is initiated to release techniques and improvisation methods in 1985, as these kinaesthetic approaches and skills leave its marks on his choreographic and pedagogical work. His constant deep enquiries of hyper awakening of the senses, based on somatic practices, explore the elaboration of movement through space and contextualisation, recognising living spaces and dreaming body transformations. In his creations, Benoît equally aims at modifying the performer’s empathic experience with the audience. Among those artists, who influenced him the most, Benoît Lachambre counts Meg Stuart he regularly collaborates with, but also Amélia Itcush with her work on the dispersal of the weight in the body.
Besides his work as choreographer and dancer, Benoît Lachambre gained a high degree of recognition as teacher by giving workshops and classes all over the world for over 30 years.

In 1996, Benoît Lachambre founded the Montreal company Par B.L.eux. With Forgeries, love and other matters created in 2003 he received the prestigious Bessie Award in 2006. Benoît Lachambre created 15 works since the foundation of Par B.L.eux, participated in more than 20 others productions and was the choreographer of 25 commissioned works, such as I is memory (for Louise Lecavalier in 2006) and JJ’s Voices for the Cullberg Ballet in Stockholm in 2010. In 2012, he created Snakeskins for which he received Le Grand prix de la danse de Montréal 2013. He co-created in 2015, Sweet-Gire with Lee Sue Feh from Vancouver, Hyperterrestre with Fabrice Ramalingome from Montpelier and This is the place, these are the things, these are the voices with Rachel Victoria Tess from Sweden. In 2016 he creates the solo performance/installations Lifeguard and Ghost telephone and danced in the works of Adriana Matos, a Brazilian choreographer and festival presenter and Dana Michel, a Montreal based choreographer. In 2017, he created a 20 minute group work for Minute Made of the Munich Opera. In 2018 he co-created with Sophie Corriveau the group performance installation Fluid Grounds and in 2019, he took part to his 2nd Quebec based collective improvisational installation performance. In 2022 he presented his 4 ½ hour Triptych All in All made of the works (Boreal Castles, l’Ogre le Phénix et l’Ami Fidèle and Perro de Fuego Y Rata de Agua) in San Luis Potosi and the Vancouver International Dance Festival.
